Let’s get dry!

‘Children with bedwetting are not lazy. They are great students, athletes, musicians and generally wonderful kids.’ This powerful statement stuck in my mind ever since I read ‘Seven Steps to Nighttime Dryness’ by Renee Mercer, a certified pediatric nurse practitioner with a more than 20 year experience.

Truth be told, a great deal of parents and kids get frustrated and embarrassed by bedwetting during night. Mrs. Renee Mercer explains how the urinary system works, what to expect at what age and how bedwetting can even be hereditary. Bedwetting is not a child’s fault or caused by poor parenting. Other factors play a role and they can all be addressed.

‘Supporting your child is crucial to success’ according to Mrs. Renee Mercer who further explains the reasons why it is not a good idea to ‘wait for children above 6 years old to grow out of it’. Treating bedwetting is easier for a 6 year old than a 13 year old plus the kid’s social life and confidence are greatly improved.

Quite interestingly an ordinary alarm will not help make any progress as a bedwetting alarm does. Both my children (5 & 6 years old) are very sound sleepers and we would regularly find them in wet sheets, had they drunk excessively after a certain time during the evening.

The bedwetting alarm was the solution for our family as well as many others’ I had the opportunity to share our experiences with.
