Anchoring
We recently visited Angkor in Cambodia and I loved the sound of ‘Let’s anchor Angkor!’
What is anchoring? It means capturing an amazing feeling and being able to reproduce it any time anywhere.
It has been a dream to visit Angkor all together. Cambodia is our children’s country of origin so that makes it very special. Being there signified a celebration of an incredible civilization and connecting with our children’s’ heritage. It was also a holiday: family bonding together, feeling relaxed, smiling, getting inspired, laughing, learning, loving. A wonderful intense mix of feelings and we wanted to have it at our fingertips even when getting back home, away from Angkor.
How? By making the moment even more intense: with several tight and warm family hugs! Jumping up and down in the air while making photos, breathing in all the beauty of this mystical place while extending our hands to try and reach the sky. At that moment, our spirit was full of confidence and our heart euphoric! We anchored Angkor!
We went back to the hotel and we tested it. We saw the pictures and screamed a bit more from pleasure and we anchored the feelings again. Then next day, just someone say the word ‘Angkor’ would be enough to have us start running up and down screaming in ecstasy. Just like when we were in Angkor.
Anchoring in NLP terms is all about state management. Being able to retrieve a memory associated with the feelings you need and get these feelings back instantly. NLP provides an easy way to anchor just about any feeling you desire and get you to the ‘desired’ state.
